Bible Passage

Psalm 107:1–22 CSB
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever. 2 Let the redeemed of the Lord proclaim that he has redeemed them from the power of the foe 3 and has gathered them from the lands— from the east and the west, from the north and the south. 4 Some wandered in the desolate wilderness, finding no way to a city where they could live. 5 They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits failed within them. 6 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; he rescued them from their distress. 7 He led them by the right path to go to a city where they could live. 8 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his faithful love and his wondrous works for all humanity. 9 For he has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. 10 Others sat in darkness and gloom— prisoners in cruel chains— 11 because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the counsel of the Most High. 12 He broke their spirits with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. 13 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart. 15 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his faithful love and his wondrous works for all humanity. 16 For he has broken down the bronze gates and cut through the iron bars. 17 Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food and came near the gates of death. 19 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent his word and healed them; he rescued them from their traps. 21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his faithful love and his wondrous works for all humanity. 22 Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices and announce his works with shouts of joy.

Bible Passage
Psalm 107:1 CSB
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
Explanation
What does it mean to be “good”?
Let’s start out with what “good” is NOT.
US!
We are NOT good.
Romans 3:10–12 CSB
10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. 11 There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.
Mark 10:18 CSB
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “No one is good except God alone.
Everyone we come in contact will let us down at SOME POINT and time.
When pride and the flesh are present, intentions will always be OFF to some degree.
GOD IS GOOD ALONE
“Good” = deserving of esteem and respect
of SUPERIOR GRADE…
He is NOT LIKE US.
He does NOT treat people the way other people treat people!!
He is NOT out to trick people!
HE is NOT out to PLAY GAMES!
HE is NOT frivolous!
He is NOT out to oppress you!
He only oppresses SIN and if you are feeling OPPRESSED by God, there is still SIN being PRESSED out of YOU!!
Since God IS GOOD, what does that mean for us??
WE CAN FULLY TRUST HIM WITH EVERYTHING!!!
Do you trust GOD or are you standoffish??
How much do you trust Him with??
SECRET: He knows everything about you on EVERY PLANE OF YOUR EXISTENCE already…and HE IS GOOD.
Psalm 107:1 CSB
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
WE NEED TO GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD, FOR HE IS GOOD!!!
His FAITHFUL LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!!
God IS LOVE. (1 John 4:8)
He is FAITHFUL
He will never be unfaithful…
He is ALWAYS consistent!
He is STEADFAST!
He is IMMOVABLE!
He is UNCHANGING!
HE IS THE ROCK OF AGES
Isaiah 26:4 CSB
4 Trust in the Lord forever, because in the Lord, the Lord himself, is an everlasting rock!
LISTEN: We have SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR…
Psalm 107:1 CSB
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 107:2 LES
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord…
What does it mean to be REDEEMED??
Redeemed is slave language
to be brought back into safety
to “buy back”
to be “ransomed”
For someone to be redeemed, they LEGALLY belonged to someone else
Psalm 107:2 LES
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord speak, whom he delivered from the hand of the enemy.
Do you realize that if you are BORN AGAIN, you have been DELIVERED
From the HAND of the ENEMY!!
From the HAND of the UNIVERSAL REBELLION
NOT partially…
NOT a “little bit”
FULLY!!
You have been delivered from the HAND of the KINGDOM OF DARKNESS and have entered into the KINGDOM of the KING OF ALL KINGS!!
IF you have been delivered from the hand of the enemy…SPEAK!!!
“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so”
Proclaim!
Declare and Decree THAT homeboy…
Psalm 107:2 LES
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord speak, whom he delivered from the hand of the enemy.
SPEAK ABOUT IT!!
We don’t because we are NOT AMAZED at God…
We are NOT in AWE of Him…
Have you FORGOTTEN where you were when He found you??
How often do you CONSIDER what God has DONE TO YOU?
or maybe you haven’t noticed a difference at all??
if not, there is a good chance that you are not born again…

Let’s walk through the rest of this passage together as a reminder to us all…

Challenge Application
What would our lives look like and how would we grow if we REFUSED to FORGET what God has done in redeeming us and rescuing us from our former life?
We HAVE to be STUBBORN in this and REMEMBER what God has done.
We need to remember our place.
We didn’t resurrect ourselves from the dead…GOD DID.
IF we will keep this in our hearts and minds, we will WORSHIP HIM.
We will GIVE THANKS
THE REDEEMED WILL SPEAK of HIS WONDERFUL WAYS in the GOSPEL
He redeemed us by taking our place!
THAT is a TRUTH worth SHOUTING FROM THE HOUSETOPS!!
IF YOU HAVE BEEN REDEEMED…SPEAK to the WORLD AROUND YOU about the One Who REDEEMS, Jesus!!
There are MANY MORE who need to be raised to NEW LIFE!!
I bless my Lord and Master he has given me a gospel which I can take to dead sinners, a gospel which is available for the vilest of the vile.
